Meet Lurline: the eye behind the iphoneography

Welcome to the world of iPhoneography by Lurline. Discover the passion, the journey, and the dedication behind capturing the incredible beauty of nature, one pixel at a time. It's more than just photos; it's about sharing the wonder of the natural world around us.

My journey into iphoneography

My fascination with iPhone photography began with the discovery of what these powerful apps could achieve. This led to establishing a dedicated subgroup within our local Camera Club. It was through this group that I was encouraged to teach a course on iPhoneography for the Redlands U3A, a role I’ve enjoyed for six years, continuously expanding my repertoire of accessories and resources. As my health shifted, I transitioned from DSLR photography to embracing the incredible advances in computational algorithms that make the iPhone my tool of choice. I upgrade my iPhone every second year to stay at the forefront of these innovations. Many of my most cherished photos are taken right in my own Brisbane backyard, a rich tapestry of flowers – both wild and cultivated – insects, and fungi, all thriving with the help of dedicated mulching.

The magic of macro: capturing nature's secrets

What I love most about capturing moments with my iPhone is the quiet joy of pottering about the garden, discovering what hidden wonders I can find. Macro (close-up) photography is my absolute favourite. There’s an entire universe of intricate details often overlooked, just waiting to be revealed. Through my lens, a tiny insect becomes a majestic creature, a dewdrop transforms into a crystal ball, and the delicate patterns of fungi tell ancient stories. This intimate exploration allows me to connect deeply with the small miracles that surround us every day, right here in Brisbane, Australia.

When someone visits this 'About' page, the main feeling or idea I want them to take away is a shared sense of wonder for nature. My photography, 'iPhoneography by Lurline,' is my way of inviting you to see the world through a new lens – one that appreciates the extraordinary beauty in the ordinary, the grand in the minuscule. Every photo is a testament to the hidden artistry of the natural world, lovingly captured and shared.
